What Chatiwi is
Chatiwi is a place to meet someone new on video. You open chatiwi.app, a guest session starts by itself, and in a few seconds you can be face to face with another person, one-to-one. You can let a random match pick who you meet, or choose someone from the online list. After a good conversation you can follow the person and message them.
There is no app to download. Chatiwi is a web app: it runs in Safari, Chrome, Edge and other current browsers, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like any other app.
Why a web app
Installing something just to try a conversation is a lot to ask. A web app removes that step: there is no store, no download and no update to wait for, and the Chatiwi you open is always the current one. The same Chatiwi works on a phone, a tablet and a computer, and on the home screen it behaves like an app, notifications included.
Why video first
Text chat with strangers leaves a lot of questions open. On video, the first few seconds answer most of them: who you are talking to, whether you get along, whether it is worth staying. That makes conversations quicker, more honest and, most of the time, more fun. Chatiwi keeps one person on each side of the call and gives both of them a Next button.
Where the kiwi comes from
Say "Chatiwi" out loud and you hear a kiwi. We kept it: the Chatiwi logo is a slice of kiwi with a chat bubble in the middle, and the seeds around it are the people you have not met yet. Fresh, small, and easy to pick up whenever you have a few minutes.
What Chatiwi stands for
- Start without a form. No email, password or profile before your first call.
- One-to-one. No crowds and no public rooms, just two people on video.
- Your call, your controls. Next, block, report and camera off are always one tap away.
- Respect. Everyone is at least 18, and every call stays non-explicit and kind.
- Privacy. Calls are not recorded, and personal data is never sold.
