What is Chatiwi?

It is a video chat web app for meeting new people. Everything happens in the browser you already have: the random match, the one-to-one call, the online list and the messages afterwards. There is no store page, no installer and no update to wait for, so the version you open is always the current one.

Every conversation here is face to face. You see the other person and they see you, which settles the questions a text chat never answers: is this a real person, do we click, is this worth five more minutes? When it is, you stay. When it is not, Next moves you on.

The name is a small joke about a kiwi, and so is the logo: a slice of fruit with a chat bubble in the middle. Fresh, quick, and something you can pick up whenever you have a few minutes.

Chat without registration

Most chat sites want an email, a password and a profile before you have said a word. Chatiwi does it the other way round. The moment the page opens, you are in as a guest: you can start a random video chat, call someone from the online list or watch a live stream, all without signing up.

An account is there for later, when you want it: to buy coins, to use your wallet, or to keep the same account on another phone or computer. Signing in takes an email address, nothing more.

Who you meet on Chatiwi

The people waiting for a call are women from many countries, signed in and ready to talk. Pick someone from the online list, or let a random match decide.

four taps

How a video chat works

  1. 1Open chatiwi.appIn Safari, Chrome or Edge, on your phone or computer. A guest session starts by itself.
  2. 2Allow your cameraYour browser asks once. Say yes to camera and microphone so the other side can see and hear you.
  3. 3Tap StartChatiwi finds someone online. You get a short preview and can join, or skip to the next person.
  4. 4Talk, or tap NextStay as long as you like. When the conversation is done, Next moves you on after a short countdown.

During a call you can mute yourself, switch your camera off, flip between the front and back camera, or hang up. If the other person leaves while you are connecting, Chatiwi finds you someone else.

Random match, or pick who you call

🎲

Random match

Tap Start and you are connected with someone new. It is quick and full of surprises, and Next is always one tap away. A random match cannot be set to a country; that is part of the fun.

👀

The online list

Prefer to choose? Open the online list, filter it by country, look through photos and profiles, and call the person you like. Follow her, and you can send messages after the call.

live

Live streams on Chatiwi

Not in the mood to be on camera yet? Open Live and watch hosts broadcast, no camera needed on your side. You can type in the stream's chat while you watch, even as a guest, and say hello before you ever show your face.

If you get along with a host, the video call button in the stream asks her for a one-to-one call. Some streams are open to everyone; others are kept for followers, need a ticket, or are for members who have bought coins. The stream always tells you what it needs before you go in.

After a good call: follow and message

Most video chats with someone new end after a few minutes, and that is fine. Now and then you meet someone you would like to talk to again. Tap Follow before you hang up: she stays in your list, you can see when she is around, and you can send her private messages.

Messages on Chatiwi are for keeping in touch with people you have already met face to face. There are no public rooms full of strangers and no text-only matching, which keeps your inbox to the people you chose. When you want to talk again, call her straight from the conversation.

Your follows and messages belong to your session. To keep them on another phone or computer, sign in with your email; a guest session stays on the device where it started.

safety

Is Chatiwi safe?

The tools for a good call stay in your hands. Calls are one-to-one, they are not recorded, and screen capture is blocked while you talk. If someone makes you uncomfortable, skip them, block them or report them; reports are reviewed by people, not just filters.

Phone, tablet or computer

Chatiwi is the same on every device, because it is the same web app. Pick whatever is closest; each has its own small advantages.

Phone

Always with you, and the front camera is made for this. Hold it at eye level and face the light. Add Chatiwi to your home screen for one-tap access.

Safari on iPhone · Chrome on Android
Tablet

A bigger picture than a phone and easy to prop up, so your hands are free while you talk. Works the same way as on a phone.

Safari on iPad · Chrome on Android tablets
Computer

The steadiest camera and the biggest screen. Any laptop with a webcam works; install Chatiwi from Chrome or Edge for its own window.

Whatever you use, keep your browser up to date and allow the camera and microphone when it asks. If something does not work, the Help Center walks through the usual fixes.

What it costs

You can start for free: free video matches are handed out every day, and the number depends on your account. After those, a random match costs a set number of coins, shown right on the Start button, and VIP members pay less. Calling someone from the online list costs the price she sets for herself. Coins are bought in advance, and you are told before a call starts charging, so there are no surprises.

Buying coins needs a signed-in account; you pay on the payment provider's own page, and Chatiwi never sees your card number. VIP is optional: matching, calling and messaging all work without it. The rewards center in the app is also worth a look for extra coins.

Chatiwi questions

What is Chatiwi?

Chatiwi is a video chat web app. You open it in your browser, a guest session starts by itself, and you can be on a one-to-one video call with someone new in a few seconds. There is nothing to download, and you can add Chatiwi to your home screen so it opens like an app.

Do I need to register to use Chatiwi?

No. Chatiwi starts you as a guest, so you can match, call someone from the online list and watch live streams without creating an account. You only sign in with an email when you want to buy coins, use your wallet or keep your account on another device.

Is there a Chatiwi app?

Chatiwi is a web app, so it is not in an app store and there is no APK to install. Open chatiwi.app in Safari, Chrome or Edge and use Add to Home Screen or Install: you get a Chatiwi icon that opens full screen, like any other app.

Is Chatiwi free?

You can start for free. Chatiwi hands out free video matches every day; how many depends on your account. After that, a random match costs a set number of coins, shown on the Start button, and calling someone directly costs the price she has set. You always see the price before you are charged.

Can I text on Chatiwi?

Chatiwi is built around video: every match is a face-to-face call. You can send private messages to people you have met or followed, but there are no public chat rooms and no text-only matching.

Does Chatiwi work on a computer?

Yes. Chatiwi works on a laptop or desktop with a webcam in Chrome, Edge or Safari, as well as on phones and tablets. On a computer you can keep it in a tab or install it from Chrome or Edge so it opens in its own window.

Is Chatiwi safe?

Calls are one-to-one and are not recorded, screen capture is blocked during a call, and every report is reviewed by a person. You can skip anyone with Next, block them in one tap and keep your camera off until you are ready. The Safety Center explains each tool.

Is Chatiwi down?

If Chatiwi will not load or a call will not connect, the cause is usually the browser, the camera permission or the network. Reload the page, check that the camera is allowed and switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Our post on whether Chatiwi is down walks through the full check.

Who can use Chatiwi?

You must be at least 18 years old to use Chatiwi. Everyone agrees to the same community guidelines, and calls stay non-explicit on both sides.
