If you use Chatiwi as a guest
A guest session is created automatically when you open Chatiwi. It has no name, email or phone number. To run it we keep an identifier for the session, your device and browser type, an approximate location from your connection, and how you use the service (for example, when calls start and how long they last).
If you sign in to Chatiwi
When you sign in with your email, we also keep that email address, your follows and messages, your coin balance and your purchase history.
Camera, microphone and calls
Your browser asks before either is switched on. They are used to carry a call or a stream while it is happening. Chatiwi does not record calls, and screen capture is blocked during a call. Recording other people is forbidden by the Chatiwi Terms of Service.
The Chatiwi web app on your device
When you add Chatiwi to your home screen, your browser stores the app and a small amount of data on your device so it can open quickly. If you allow notifications, your device gives us a notification address so we can send them; you can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
Messages and reports
Conversations are not read as a matter of routine. When something is reported, the reported part and any screenshots you attach are reviewed to work out what happened.
Why Chatiwi uses this data
- To run matches, calls, live streams, follows and messages.
- To calculate and process paid calls.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, and to enforce suspensions and removals.
- To understand how Chatiwi is used and make it work better.
Who we share it with
Chatiwi does not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- companies that run parts of the service for us, such as payments, hosting and abuse prevention;
- authorities, when a valid legal request requires it or someone's safety is at risk.
How long we keep it
There is no single fixed period. We keep data while your account or session is in use, while it is needed for a payment, dispute or legal obligation, or to keep a suspension in force, and then delete it.
Your choices
- Block or report anyone.
- Keep your camera off until you are ready.
- Delete your account, or ask us to.
- Ask for a copy of your data or for it to be corrected. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, and we will respect them.
Cookies and browser storage
Chatiwi stores a small amount of data in your browser to keep your session, your sign-in and your settings. Without it, a guest session could not work. Clearing your browser data ends a guest session.
Age
Chatiwi is not for anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data.
